WABA is excited to welcome a new member business – Plays in Mud Handmade Pottery, located at 735 C Haywood Road. Owner Kelsey Wheeler is a long-time local potter, member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild, and has sold her work all over the country from Juno, Alaska to California. She specializes in nature-influenced, signature two-color, hand-stamped creations. Her attention to detail is meticulous, and she glass polishes the bottom of her pieces to ensure that they are gentle on surfaces and perfect for decor and everyday use.

If you are interested in learning how to create your own pottery, Kelsey offers two classes. The Beginner Wheel Class is for true beginners  that want to learn how to throw on a wheel. The Instant Gratification Class is a Friday evening BYOB class for people that want to produce  multiple pieces to be fired and glazed. She also offers private Group Classes and Date Night adventures.

Kelsey loves being a part of the West Asheville business community and enjoys collaborating with neighborhood businesses on the 2nd Saturday West Asheville Art Crawl. She is accepting applications from local artists on her website Plays in Mud  who are interested in doing an outdoor Art Pop-up featuring their work.

West Asheville’s retail shopping options  continue to expand and we are grateful to have Kelsey as a new WABA member.

She is hosting a Grand Opening on Saturday November 20th from 12-5PM.
The first 10 attendees every hour will receive a complimentary hand-designed wine glass.
Enjoy meeting Kelsey and touring her studio.
