Asheville City government offices will be closed Dec. 24, 25 and 28 and Jan. 1 in observance of the winter holiday break and New Year’s Day. The following is a roundup of services affected by holiday closures.
ART transit service
City bus service will be suspended starting at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 24 and throughout Dec. 25 in observance of the holiday. Christmas is one of two holidays during which the City of Asheville’s ART system closes. ART will operate on its holiday schedule Jan. 1. Trash and recycling
Garbage and recycling collection will not be affected. There are no Friday collections. Collections will run as normal on Dec. 24 and Dec. 28. Questions about garbage collection can be directed to the City of Asheville at828-251-1122. Questions about recycling collection can be answered by Curbside Management at 828-252-2532.
City Council and committee meetings
Most regularly scheduled City committee meetings the week of Dec. 21 are cancelled or rescheduled. These include Technical Review Committee, Finance Committee and the Board of Adjustment. City Council has also been cancelled for what would have been its Dec. 22 meeting. City Council will meet next on Jan. 12, 2016.

Recreation
All City parks will remain open 6 a.m.–10 pm. daily. Parks and Recreation facilities will function on the following schedules over the holiday:
- All recreation centers – closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1.
- Asheville Municipal Golf Course – closed Dec. 25, open as usual 6 a.m.–5 p.m.Dec. 24 and Jan. 1.
- WNC Nature Center – closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1.
- Aston Tennis Center – closed for the season and will reopen in April.
- Food Lion Skate Park – closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
U.S. Cellular Center
The U.S. Cellular Center box office and Thomas Wolfe Auditorium will be closed Dec. 21 through Jan. 1. The facility will re-open Jan. 2 for the Gala Gymnastics Regional event. Emergency services
All public safety services, including police, fire and emergency response, will operate to normal schedule – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Water Resources staff will be available for water related emergencies 24 hours a day over the holiday weekend. Customers can call the customer service line at 828-251-1122 to report water related emergencies, leaks, breaks and no water calls.
