When Mark Goodwin and Harrison Faher started scouting for locations for their brewery they were thrilled to find out that the McKnight Tire store was open for rent right in their neighborhood. West Asheville has exactly the community vibe they were seeking to create with a spacious beer garden patio where folks can get to know each other sitting around communal tables enjoying a locally brewed beverage.
Successful breweries in Asheville distinguish themselves both by the atmosphere they create and the unique qualities of their product. Cellerest small-batch beers are wood fermented in a 4-barrel system utilizing a liner and compressed air for dispensing instead of CO2 and kegs creating fresher beers served at the proper temperature. They use locally-grown ingredients as much as possible including NC grains, wild West Asheville yeast, and Wisteria harvested from Mark’s backyard. Their beers include an enzyme that significantly reduces the gluten-content and the majority of their beers are around 5% alcohol content so you can enjoy sipping in the sun.
For a new West Asheville experience, come sample Cellerest’s 8 lagers and ales selected each day as well as collaboration beers with other local breweries such as Zillicoah. You can order food from the WALK straight from your table while enjoying the company of neighbors from 1P-9PM Wednesday-Sunday. They are looking forward to hosting live music and food trucks and pop-up events in the near future.
