The Planning and Zoning Commission will be ready to review for a vote the Haywood Road Form-Based Code on August 21, 2014. The form code project should be the only item on the agenda that evening. When Planning and Zoning Commission votes they make a recommendation to City Council, who also will review the code at a later date.

The Planning and Zoning Commission has included the Haywood Road Form-Based Code proposal in work sessions and open meetings, including taking comments, over the last few months. Throughout this time, City staff has been working closely with the community to gather additional comments and feedback on the draft code presented by the consulting firm, Code Studio http://haywoodroad.code-studio.com/2014/04/17/revised-draft-form-based-code/.  A revised draft will be posted on the City web site soon and we will provide a link as soon as that is available.

Prior to the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on August, 21, 2014 City staff will mail a notice to every property owner affected by the zoning change and all properties within 200 feet of those properties as is policy.

Of concern to businesses and community alike is the continued stress of development on transportation and parking along the corridor. WABA voiced strong support for a comprehensive look at these issues and we are happy to say the City is responding and a proposal is in the works for doing such a study and providing recommendations. We will post details as we have them as well as how you can participate.
