The Asheville Convention & Visitors Bureau has added a page to their website that communicates specifics about federal site accessibility and closures, and allows visitors to understand what is open and available to them.

“Government Shutdown Travel Alert” page on ExploreAsheville.com

This page includes information on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, National Forests and Carl Sandburg Home.

A good thing to remember when talking with visitors to the area is that all North Carolina state-operated facilities, including Grandfather Mountain, Chimney Rock State Park, Mount Mitchell State Park and the North Carolina Arboretum remain open. The Folk Art Center and all NC Welcome Centers are also open.
