What: WABA and Asheville GreenWorks Haywood Road Clean Up Day
When: Sunday, August 18, 2013 • 8:30am Start Time
Where: Meet in Ingles parking lot on Haywood Road

The West Asheville Business Association and Asheville GreenWorks are teaming up for a cleanup day on Haywood Road in West Asheville on Sunday, August 18th starting at 8:30 am. The two longstanding Asheville organizations are joining forces up to pick up trash, clean gutters and storm drains and remove street side weeds and debris along Haywood Road through West Asheville.

Heavily used by cars, bicyclists and pedestrians, Haywood Road has become a destination for both tourists and locals alike. The cleanup will make our historic West Asheville main street look better as well as improve safety and storm water runoff quality. Volunteers are needed to help make the day a success. Please consider volunteering a few hours of your time. Many hands will make for a fun and effective clean up.

Local West Asheville businesses will be providing snacks at the beginning of the work day for volunteers. Asheville GreenWorks will be providing cleanup tools, safety vests, gloves, trash bags and recycling bags. Volunteers are encouraged to wear work clothes and sturdy shoes. Shovels and extra buckets with handles would be welcome.

The West Asheville Business Association (WABA) is a membership organization for businesses located in the portion of the City of Asheville west of the French Broad River. WABA provides a voice for the business interests of West Asheville, helps West Asheville businesses stay informed about public issues that may affect them, promotes West Asheville businesses, and contributes to community organizations in support of beautification, recreation and business development.
