Opening Reception, Friday, August 30 6 – 9 PM
Asheville BookWorks, 428 1/2 Haywood Road

For lovers and makers of prints, PrintOcracy promises to be a memorable summer art exhibition. The show, organized by Asheville BookWorks and juried by Chapel Hill printmaker Bill Fick, will celebrate contemporary print culture and all of its freshness, innovation and energy.

This August marks PrintOcracy’s debut as the printmaker’s counterpart to BookOpolis. The latter, a summer book arts exhibition presented annually by BookWorks, has gained national acclaim as a southeastern artist book spectacle not to be missed. This year is the beginning of a biennial alternation between the two juried exhibitions. PrintOcracy will treat visitors to an opening weekend like that of BookOpolis in that on August 30th and 31st, every print entered into the show will be on display in the BookWorks gallery. The work will be juried in person, and the remaining selection will stay on view through November. Visitors to opening weekend will glimpse the wide spectrum of work that jurors choose from when curating a show.
