The West Asheville Garden Stroll (WAGS) Planning Team is encouraging edible landscaping and beautification of community spaces in West Asheville by offering seed money grants!

Projects locations could include boulevard strips, islands, storefronts, and schools located in West Asheville. The project must be community-oriented, visible from the street and within the area of West Asheville bounded by Patton Avenue/Smokey Park Highway, I-40 and the French Broad River.

Up to seven grants ($100-$250 each) of seed is available. Yes, businesses are eligible, as are neighborhood groups, schools, youth groups and community groups.

Describe your project – including the location, estimated cost and how your project builds community around gardening in West Asheville. Please keep descriptions to one page or less. Email your project description to wagardenstroll@gmail.com

Deadline: January 31, 2014

Applicants will be notified by February 28, 2014.

Awarded projects will need to provide a progress report to WAGS, including photos, by August 15 and a final report upon completion of the project. Grantees must be willing to share photos and project description with WAGS for future publicity.
